Apple Butter – Version 8 ________________________________________ Servings – 4 Half Pints Prep Time - 25 Minutes Cook Time – High 3 Hours Low 20 to 24 Hours ________________________________________ Ingredients: • 8 cups cooked apples • 4 cups sugar • 1/2 cup vinegar • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves • 2 teaspoon cinnamon • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
Instructions: 1. Wash, peel, core and slice apples thin. 2. Place into slow cooker. 3. Add only enough water to keep from sticking to the bottom. 4. Cover and cook 10 to 12 hours on low. 5. Cook until tender. 6. Add 4 cups of sugar to 8 cups of cooked apples. 7. Add 1/2 cup white vinegar; stir well and cook all night, 10 to 12 hours covered on low. 8. Puree mixture and return to crock pot. 9. Add spices and cook for 3 hours on high without lid until mixture becomes a spreading consistency. 10. Put into sterilized jars, adjust lids and submerge in boiling water for 10 minutes.
